I love stories, especially stories about the underdog overcoming overwhelming odds.
My passion is to create inspirational stories that change the frame, uplift the spirit, anchor community, and organize and mobilize to build a better day, for everyone, everywhere.
I’m also a media entrepreneur based just outside Washington, D.C., working at the intersection of narrative change, documentaries, journalism, labor, political economy and the arts. I’m the founder and executive producer of EML.media, a publishing house, artist studio and event space producing film, podcasts, music and writing on every topic imaginable.
A snapshot of past and present projects include the pedagogy of political economy, gig workers and the algorithm, dialogues on faith and belief, a musical film project called Old Man Country Folk, and a roadtrip documentary travelogue along the Mississippi River about Abraham Lincoln, the civil war and blues music.
Previously, I launched a permaculture, ecotourism event space in West Virginia with the goal of building resilience through innovative food production, education and community.
My work is grounded in years of public service, from Peace Corps in Zambia and Jamaica, USAID energy and media projects, and FEMA crisis communications for communities facing disasters in places like Vermont and North Carolina. I understand how bureaucracy moves and the importance of clearly communicating policy to support communities in need.
The wide kaleidoscope of experience orients a unique narrative frame and strategy that I bring to organizations, big and small, both for-profit and nonprofit.
